oh...

Alright, time to do the last one I missed! I really like the general idea and flow of the song. It could make for a really good song if you were to complete it; however, I understand it's honestly easier said than done. I felt the same way with the fourth section of my most recent song. I just had no idea what to do there and nothing seemed to feel right. I really like how you sort of elaborated and expanded the melody in the second half of this song. It's honestly pretty catchy. I also want to mention the pancake tag. That's fantastic. Anyway, not much to say here since it's a loop. Overall, I really like this. It has a nice melody and the harmony flows the direction of the music really well. This may be a little nit-picky but I do say the percussion is a slight bit bland. Maybe that's just the genre (I'm not too familiar with trance) but maybe add a little more to the drums just to spice it up a little.

50Steaks responds:

You’re not familiar with trance? That’s like 80% of what I make lol. Granted there are different types of trance, like some leans more towards ambient and other more melodic, but so does my music. I don’t know why it was named “trance”, that name makes little to no sense to me, but it best categorizes my music.
Well I thought about trying to make it more full-length, but decided to end it there sort of like how I ended New Hampshire since I felt like everything that could have been done with that specific melodic structure was done. Of course I was wrong, but that was my feeling at the time, and both songs suffered because of it. I later went back to this song (the file), added additional harmony, and made it much more impactful but never got around to lengthening it which is the only reason I’d update this anymore.

Wow, this is amazing! I really love the synth in it. This would be amazing in a videogame or some sort. Something like Megaman or games of that type.

This song is pretty good but the part that stands out to me the most is 01:04. It brings a nice level of depth to the song and goes well (in my opinion) with the main melody. I feel like this song would be benefitted from a calm peaceful section with a different melody as well though.

50Steaks responds:

That’s all 100% true, but I really used to like 1:29 because it’s the closest thing this song has to a peaceful section.
Note: you’ve now reviewed 40 out of 41 of my tracks, and the one you’re missing is Kansas.

Oh, your home state! I'm surprised you didn't do it first or last. This is definitely a unique song with the time signature and bpm and all.

50Steaks responds:

Yeah but the panning on the lead instrument is off. I just noticed this; I should fix that soon. Anyway yeah I have fairly negative feelings toward my own state, and just added it as another state in the series, becoming about the same importance as California as time went on.
Note: I was really proud of the drums in this one, and still am. They accomplished exactly what I wanted them to do and are fairly complicated.

Your edits are so funny. I didn't think the song was as bad as you make it out to be. I agree that cool time signatures can be pretty bit limitations if you're not ready to sacrifice your usual style to cater to the signature. They can be a beast to handle but when done right can sound really good.

50Steaks responds:

Yeah I think I learned how to deal with bizarre time signatures later on, but the reason I said that was because of Michigan, which was in 5/4.

If you dislike the song so much then perhaps remove it or improve it. I don't see much point in uploading something you're not proud of. Maybe you could redo Ohio with your present 2022 skills.

50Steaks responds:

Ok I’ll confess, I never wanted to touch this song again and instead made up for it with later releases. But you’re right, this is probably a song I’ll redo at some point.

Beep boop bop pop pow. I don't really know what else to say here. You've pretty much moved past everything I have to give feedback on. Giving feedback on year-old songs is weird. Because I know you've already improved past it and it feels like beating a dead horse at this point.

50Steaks responds:

It’s important to note just how proud I was at the time of release. It was my best song up to this point and spawned 2 sequels, both of which were 8-bit. Unfortunately the software I use doesn’t like to cooperate with multiple opposing melodic ideas in one section on one instrument, and I had to work around it.

Oh, Mozart 8-bit remix. I really like this. I like how you played around with the melody a little here (or it's just normally like that. I'm not too familiar with the piece). Anyway nice remix.

50Steaks responds:

Repetition really drives down the quality of the song, despite the fact that I did actually change the melody. I didn’t change it deliberately, I just thought I remembered it correctly and didn’t, which is humorous to me now.

This song has a nice melody. I just feel that the introduction is a little longer than it should be. I feel like your main problem back here was variation in your songs. Not exploring a little more and experimenting. I know that you've worked past this and it's pointless for me to say this; however, I'm going to say it anyway. Regardless of the repetition, I think it's a pretty solid song.

50Steaks responds:

It is quite repetitive, but at the time I really liked this song. I later updated it and fixed the ear piercing second half, and it stands as a testament of my older tracks, definitely one of my better old tracks.
