This is cute!
What a stunning performance
Thank you!!!
Congratulations on getting frontpaged! I honestly feel that this song has the most character out of all your songs. You really did focus on the atmosphere and played heavily off it. The beginning is really calm yet intense (I'm not too sure how to describe it). The pacing and overall structure of the song are done fantastically. I am genuinely glad that this song got frontpage, it's a masterpiece. You played to the strength of your style, genre and atmosphere of the song. I am very proud of you and this song, well done!
Response: Oh, I didn't remember enabling the hide rating feature. I hope it shows now.
Everyone seems to really like the pacing, and I think it’s because I left out a real end to the first drop. It just goes right into the second which I think was a risky decision, but ultimately paid off because it really did a great job at keeping the tension. I wonder why you decided to hide the review score, but considering you think this song is my best so far, I’m going to assume it’s 5 stars. In the future, this song provides an amazing baseline to work and grow off of, so my next song will be similar in quality to this, ideally.
Edit: yup, looks like my prediction was correct.
oh...
Alright, time to do the last one I missed! I really like the general idea and flow of the song. It could make for a really good song if you were to complete it; however, I understand it's honestly easier said than done. I felt the same way with the fourth section of my most recent song. I just had no idea what to do there and nothing seemed to feel right. I really like how you sort of elaborated and expanded the melody in the second half of this song. It's honestly pretty catchy. I also want to mention the pancake tag. That's fantastic. Anyway, not much to say here since it's a loop. Overall, I really like this. It has a nice melody and the harmony flows the direction of the music really well. This may be a little nit-picky but I do say the percussion is a slight bit bland. Maybe that's just the genre (I'm not too familiar with trance) but maybe add a little more to the drums just to spice it up a little.
You’re not familiar with trance? That’s like 80% of what I make lol. Granted there are different types of trance, like some leans more towards ambient and other more melodic, but so does my music. I don’t know why it was named “trance”, that name makes little to no sense to me, but it best categorizes my music.
Well I thought about trying to make it more full-length, but decided to end it there sort of like how I ended New Hampshire since I felt like everything that could have been done with that specific melodic structure was done. Of course I was wrong, but that was my feeling at the time, and both songs suffered because of it. I later went back to this song (the file), added additional harmony, and made it much more impactful but never got around to lengthening it which is the only reason I’d update this anymore.
Wow, this is amazing! I really love the synth in it. This would be amazing in a videogame or some sort. Something like Megaman or games of that type.
This song is pretty good but the part that stands out to me the most is 01:04. It brings a nice level of depth to the song and goes well (in my opinion) with the main melody. I feel like this song would be benefitted from a calm peaceful section with a different melody as well though.
That’s all 100% true, but I really used to like 1:29 because it’s the closest thing this song has to a peaceful section.
Note: you’ve now reviewed 40 out of 41 of my tracks, and the one you’re missing is Kansas.
Oh, your home state! I'm surprised you didn't do it first or last. This is definitely a unique song with the time signature and bpm and all.
Yeah but the panning on the lead instrument is off. I just noticed this; I should fix that soon. Anyway yeah I have fairly negative feelings toward my own state, and just added it as another state in the series, becoming about the same importance as California as time went on.
Note: I was really proud of the drums in this one, and still am. They accomplished exactly what I wanted them to do and are fairly complicated.
Your edits are so funny. I didn't think the song was as bad as you make it out to be. I agree that cool time signatures can be pretty bit limitations if you're not ready to sacrifice your usual style to cater to the signature. They can be a beast to handle but when done right can sound really good.
Yeah I think I learned how to deal with bizarre time signatures later on, but the reason I said that was because of Michigan, which was in 5/4.
