The sun shines every day you post. Amazing track, I think you nailed it with the artwork!

Payton-Petkus responds:

Thanks so much!

I made the headphone mistake; it got quite loud, lol! It sounds like a beautiful blend between the Darktide and Terraria soundtracks. Very nice!

50Steaks responds:

From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh

Oh wow, really building the atmosphere here. I like it! Everything sounds so distant yet calming, perfectly captures the image. Great job!

Everratic responds:

Thank you! I'm glad you like the distant sound.

Cirrus clouds are my second favourite type of clouds! I still can't believe cirrus clouds are among the highest clouds in the atmosphere. Right up there with cirrocumulus clouds. Cumulonimbus clouds are my favourite for obvious reasons ;)

I love the angelic feeling of this. The harp, glockenspiel and woodwinds go really well together. Is that a sax?!

If you really wanted to lean heavily into the angelic feel, then adding some soft choir sustains in the background could help with some more depth and filling in some empty space during the climaxes.

Some soft brass could have been really cool in this. Done in a similar way to the brass in Debussy's piece. Gentle brass is among the most underused and most beautiful things.

Sorry for taking nearly a quarter of a year to write this. I'm getting my adhd medication soon, hopefully.

50Steaks responds:

Yes, that is a sax. In fact, I’ve put both tenor and soprano sax in here just like with presage. I wasn’t willing to put in choir in this one because dostinato already had quite a bit of it and I wanted a minimalist style sorta. But it might’ve helped in the quieter sections fill up some space. As for the soft brass, in TLG you said you hated weak brass sounds lmao. Plus, like in presage I wanted to stick to winds and a few extra percussion instruments. To be honest I thought you would’ve had a little more to say about 1:24-1:48. I was so proud of that part when I first dropped this one lmao. It’s gotta be some of my best orchestration despite not even being a wind player.

I love cirrus clouds. If I made a sequel it would be cumulonimbus. The name is just so glorious to me and I don’t even know why

Enjoy your ADHD medication. Hope it tastes good.

Perfection

50Steaks responds:

I wouldn’t go that far. This one wasn’t frontpaged, after all, so clearly I was missing something. I wanted to shake up the intro - chorus - bridge - chorus - outro format so I just had intro - chorus - bridge- B section - outro instead. But something went wrong and I’m not sure what. Maybe it’s just a fundamental issue with the main melody. Unfortunately there’s not much that could be done in that case if I don’t want to alter the original sound too much.

But thanks for enjoying it nonetheless. I’ve got 2 more remixes and I’m gonna just say them now: one is Missouri 6, and the other is Newer Jersey (names pending).

And Newer Jersey is electronic.

Amazing rapping and that bass is just 🔥🔥🔥

CasualBreather responds:

Thanks a lot Tangerine! Yeah StixDevs cooked hard!!! 🔥🔥🔥

StixDevs responds:

Glad you liked the bass! i didnt like it at first but then i warmed up to it

Funky, I like it!

Creeperforce24 responds:

(Thanks! Used a different daw then Fl mobile lol)

The slugg dogg would be the first to be adopted at the shelter

CasualBreather responds:

It's heartwarming knowing that he would be safe! Thanks for the rating Tangerine!

My goodness, where to start with this one? I love it so much. You can easily hear the classical influences, especially at 0:43. Let's just take a second to talk about this. Absolutely masterclass I love it so much. Don't be surprised if you see me attempt something similar in the future. Whatever strings you used here sound amazing :)

It's been a hot minute since I've heard Tennessee and I really love what you did with it. It went from funny trumpet shenanigans into a beautifully orchestrated masterpiece. I genuinely love how much you use the woodwinds. Personally, they're the most slept-on family right before unpitched perc.

You're unnaturally skilled at making music to fit wars. The beginning of this piece matches the tone I would expect for a track about the Civil War. The beautiful violins and strings at the beginning add so much flavour.

10/10 for using the lower register of the celesta so effectively. The celesta usually sounds like such a playful instrument but the lower register has a completely different feel. It still retains the characteristics but without as much brightness to its timbre.

Going back to 00:43 - 00:53, MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM that is so good I struggle to express it. I go back and listen to the original Tennessee and I can barely believe it's the same person who made them both. How much you've improved is quite insane. I love how much orchestral music you're making, but I wonder how you'd sound if you tried a trance track again using all that you've learnt.

At 1:20, the pizz strings sound so crisp I love it. It's so sharp and quiet; a perfect contrast to the flutes which are the complete opposite. The build-up to the final climax is done very well. It's a shame the ending is done so quickly. I feel like you could have done more with it. It sounds like it was cut in half and we hear the second half. It's got so much punch and power yet not enough time to really make use of it. However, the very end is a lovely touch. I always love big dramatic endings.

Criminal that this wasn't frontpaged. It has so much charm to it.

50Steaks responds:

Glad to see your extended review! I didn’t compose the ending the same way I do most of my pieces. I made the ending WAY before I made the buildup and thus the transition into it probably didn’t feel super natural. Also with these two most recent pieces I’ve been experimenting with dead silence more as a tool for emphasis and this was my first attempt at it. I think cirrus did a significantly better job at using it though. I guess they can’t frontpage everything lol.

Been thinking about a possible return to trance. But I’m worried that it’ll sound the same as before because I’m in a completely different software now. Orchestration rules and such just don’t apply at all in fl and that’s scary. Unless I somehow blended these instruments with synths and somehow like exported a mp3 file or something. But that sounds really challenging tbh and a little impractical since I can’t mix exactly the way I want.

Side note, by celesta do you mean hand bells or glockenspiel? I didn’t use that in this piece, only presage. I assume you mean hand bells cause I do use the lower register. It makes more sense when you think about this piece as a hand bell concerto.

I’m surprised you have so much to say about 0:43 and not the part immediately following, which is my favorite part of the piece obviously.

Before uploading I made a few dynamic modifications to the intro and to the first chorus because the ending was just so much louder and I didn’t like that. Ultimately I think that was a mistake. The solo violin projects above everything wayyyy too much but I just wanted to get this out so I could move on to wrapping up cirrus, which is just so much more experimental and also got the FP. But I’m glad to see you enjoyed this one nonetheless! This will NOT be the last time I step into remaking old states.

God knows the world needs more of this

Solacitude responds:

Did you get this sense of calmness, a soothing effec?
It is what I got from composing this one, and from anytime I listen to it.
Good for the mind. I'm glad you enjoyed ^^
