The Tomster did me so dirty D:
Very cool piece, I like the emotion in it as well as the melodic progression. The work with the strings is very nice and I like the staccato woodwinds along with it.
There is just one thing I wanted to point out. Like I said on Discord, I think the overall texture of each section could have a bit more variation. Most of the time, I'm mainly hearing the strings. I know that the strings are not always the centre point but they are always there. Maybe a section somewhere in the middle where there are no strings at all, and you see what you can do with only woodwinds and percussion?
I do have to say though, I like 02:02 a lot. I think this section's strings are awesome, but it would have more of an impact if the strings weren't so omnipresent throughout the song.
Anyway, apologies for starting off with the critique, I just wanted to get the hardest part about reviewing out of the way, haha (hard to find faults in your music xd). The harmonies and the different voices in this piece are amazing. Genuinely outstanding. You somehow manage to have so much going on, yet not too much to where it gets enigmatic. Everything compliments each other so well and it all creates this beautiful blend that sings.
Like, oh my god can we just quickly talk about 04:27? Holy shit that little bit is so good. If you listened to that and didn't feel something then you're not human. You sprinkle in so many sections like that which takes me completely off guard and hits in places I didn't know I had. The emotions in this piece are so present and so clear.
Also, one thing that I noticed which is through no fault of your own is the weakness of the brass sound. I'm so used to hearing big, meaty brass which has strong power yet delicacy and grace. But with the SoundFont, you're using it just sounds kind of weak? I'm not sure, probs just personal preference. But maybe having more tone in the brass would compliment the piece as a whole. But I don't really know how much control you have over that.
Also, I appreciate the theming of the piece. It was very sweet of you.
Anyway, awesome piece, I love it a lot. Have no idea how it didn't get frontpaged, but oh well. Excited for what you create next :).
Thanks for taking the time to review this one. The way I made this was entirely non linear, much unlike warbird. I would also like to mention that warbird also had strings in every section, it’s just that I found it to be empty sounding without more orchestration in general so I toned it up here. Probably too much as it seems to have done more harm than good.
My favorite part of the piece is end of the tunnel. Every time I listen to it it pulls at my heartstrings like no other part in the piece in my eyes. The way it accelerates into the resolution with the cymbal is probably the best part imo. 4:27 is also good tbh but the second half of this was rushed for sure lmao. But yeah I took the rich orchestration approach here and I think it helped it in some ways and hurt it in others.
As for the weak brass, that actually is my fault. I didn’t want them to overpower the strings too much but looking back I should’ve done more unison lines with them like in warbird.
Thanks for your feedback!
damn, this track is *fire*
Wouldn’t it be funny if this got frontpaged instead of TLG
Oh wow, such a range of voices. Awesome!
Very cool :))

Awesome backing track. Are you saying "Ooouuuuhh Uoohhhhoooooo" in the song? Ngl a jazz guitar playing what the vocals are doing would go so well.
